About Us



Sydney is packed full of history dating back to the Indigenous people when they first walked onto the area. Of couse the Aborigines didn't name the area as Sydney instead they named it as Warrane.

Captain Cook was the first white man to find Sydney but it took many years before it was proposed to hold a colony but naturally with a brilliant harbour and spacious land it was a great place to hold a colony.

Below is a timeline of the events that took place to form Sydney:

  1. 50,000BC-15,000BC- various Aboriginal sites are made around the area
  2. 1770-Captain Cook arrives at Botany Bay
  3. 1778-Penal colony of New South Wales established by the arrival of the first fleet
  4. 1808- The infamous Rum Rebellion overthrows the Govenor,William Bligh
  5. 1840-England stops transport of prisoners
  6. 1842-Sydney becomes a city
  7. 1852-Gold discovered in the area
  8. 1937-Sydney Harbour Bridge constructed
  9. 1973-Sydney Opera House Opens
  10. 2000-Olympic games held in Sydney
  11. 2007- Sydney hosts World APEC Summit
  12. 2008-Sydney hosts World Youth Day
